Starting Point

Starting Point is a 10-week course designed to facilitate discussion and encourage a healthy and meaningful exploration of core foundational issues relating to personal faith and Christianity. Originating from North Point Church in Atlanta it has been utilized in various parts of the world as a helpful tool which we are pleased to offer at Jericho Road.

We’re hosting a new group beginning 2nd February 2010….  Please contact John (johncox@shaw.ca) if interested… it’s a wonderful time together – stimulating and lots of fun :-)

Listen to Louis Giglio talking about the God who created the universe….

The purpose of Starting Point is to provide a forum where anyone interested can question and discuss what it means to have a relationship with God. Many of us have been through some pretty negative life experiences or church encounters and have good reason to be apprehensive and mistrustful. We are sensitive to that reality and will work hard to ensure that this groups is respectful, friendly, and non-threatening. We offer a conversational environment where you are invited to question and explore faith and experience community.

Topics covered include:

The Big Story…. of God and us

Why should I believe the Bible?

Creation – where does it all begin?

Brokenness – what happened – why the mess?

Promise – meaning?

Why Rules?

Rebellion – it’s not fair!

God revealed in history – up close and personal

Knowing God myself – and his power

Where we’re heading – and the mystery; …..

+ any topic you bring to the group

We’d love to have you join us…..

John will be leading this particular group…. if you want you can check out his blog…

Is this for anyone or just those who are new to the church? i..e…do you take old people too?
Also, will these groups be fairly large or small?

The groups will be open to anyone of any age… The only thing we are trying to encourage is that new people are involved as the course material is for them. It will not be much use to have group of Christians doing the course on their own….. we need to reach out and take a few risks…. Groups probably won’t be too big but difficult to know at this stage.
